The Dude's Informance

On Thursday, the Dude had his first informance. For this he played the recorder. They have a book they have worked through called recorder Karate. We were very proud of him. He didn't start playing until January and he passed up some of the other third graders. He did a great job. They played some great songs. He really has an ear for music. The Dude can listen to something and play it on his violin, the piano and the recorder. Next year they will continue the recorder and also do the keyboard. One of the kids played the theme song from Harry Potter on the piano. Hopefully The Dude will learn something like that also.

Best Dog in the World

We are very lucky to have a great dog. I have heard that the best dogs are those that have been adopted. We adopted Daisy Duke almost eight years ago and have not regretted it. She is so good with kids any kids not just her own. She tolerates anythingand is very well behaved other than when she is hunting the vermin (chipmunks) in our yard. Here is an example of how patient she can be.
No matter what kind of torture the kids think up she is as calm as can be. She has worn sunglasses, a doggy pack for hiking, and boots. The kids have laid on her, stood on her and sat on her. We have taken her down slides and across drawbridges. While nervous she still goes. Daisy Duke comes when she is called and is a great running partner (except when she wants to chase the wildlife). She even knows when she is in trouble and stays on her bed. She is the best dog we could have asked for.

The Princess's first meet

On Saturday the Princess had her first gymnastics competition ever. She is the youngest girl on her team.
She did amazingly well. Better than we thought she would. She scored a 6 on the floor and a 5.1 on her vault. Although she didn't place (which she was bummed about) she did great and had a lot of fun.
These are pitures of her during the warm ups.She is still working on her balance but she looks great here. We are very proud of her. She did a great job on remembering and performing her routines.

California Cousins

I was looking through our pics today and found these of our last visit to The Doctor's sister. We would visit them every few months and the kids would have so much fun. Us too. The kids all got along very well together. We really miss being able to visit them and wished they lived closer. The kids were just asking yesterday if they were coming to visit or if we were going there soon. Can't wait till we can visit again.

The Dude in Concert

The Dude has been practicing every Monday since February for his first choir concert. Although he wasn't ecstatic about choir I think he still had fun. They joined four other schools in the district and performed at the only highschool in 4 towns. Luckily it is only fifteen minutes away. He did a great job and we were impressed with all of the choirs.
