Cute Stuff's First Ice Cream

Cute Stuff enjoyed her first ice cream cone in Idaho Springs a few weeks age. I tried to get a small cone for her but they only had one size. She had birthdaycake ice cream. In the end she was a huge sticky mess and so was her stroller. Clean up was hard as there weren't any paper towels so in the end we washed her as best we could and just changed her clothes.

Idaho Springs

A couple of weeks ago the doctor, his brother and his intern went rafting with my dad's wife, her two friends and my sister. While they did this, the princess went to regionals with her team where she was their mascot ( a penguin) and the rest of us walked around Idaho Springs. It is a cute little mining town. There is a lot of history in this town. They had an old train that you could get on. There is also a waterfall that freezes solid in the winter with a waterwheel. We went to a small museum which had all kinds of mining artifacts old mining records, an old cash register and many other things. Cute stuff had her first ice cream cone, birthday cake, which she thouroughly enjoyed. After the rafters were done we picked them up and the princess and had lunch at Tommy Knockers. They have awesome rootbeer and cream sodas. It was a great day the guys had a blast rafting. A good portion of the trip contained class four rapids which was very

exciting for them. At the end it started raining but it was a great day.

The Pincess's First Piano Recital

Friday night (after the Meet) the Princess had her first recital. Although she was very tired she played very well. Her teacher was very impressed and so were we. The song she played was Jumping Bean. She received an award for being the most improved and getting the most Butterflies for pratice and other activities. She also recieved one of six large butteflies for this. (They are so cool I think I might get some for their room). She was very excited. She has an amazing teacher. We are very proud of her. The video won't upload for some reason so if you would like to see it I can try to email it let me know.

Eagle Swim Meet

On Friday the Dude and Princess had their second swim meet in Eagle which is 2 and a half hours away. We overslept and got there just before it started thus no time for warm ups. The kids swam really well this time. There was tough competition. The Dude took 5 seconds off his breast stroke and the Princess took twelve off of her backstroke. The Dude's relay team placed 4th in the 100 yard medley relay with a time of 2 min. They are improving each week and we are very proud of them (especially since neither one like to swim).

Happy fourth of July

Yeah I know I am slow but hey what can you do? So the doctor started off the weekend by showing his brother and my family the joys of the song United States of Whatever. Which they (the Doctor and his brother) now say all the time. We had a great fourth of July. We started out with the largest fourth of July run the Freedom run in Evergreen. It was a very hard 5k as a good mile of it was up hill after the first 2 miles at 7600 ft. Even though I run at about 1200 hundred feet higher my hills are a lot more gradual sooo I made it about a quarter of the way up the last hill and then walked until I reached the top. My first mile was 9 min, my second as we started some hills was 11 min and my last 1.1 mile was 17 due to the walking. The runners were my Uncle his Daughter, the Doctors brother, my Dad's wife and myself. The walkers were my Dad and my oldest sister. Those who ran the whole way (cpmgratulations by the way) were my Uncle with a time of 30 min and my Dad's wife with a time of 32 min(you guys are tough. Maybe next year we will all make it). The Doctors bother and I who walked some of it finished with a time of 37 min and my cousin finished shortly after that. It was a very long and exhilirating if not tiring run. The great thing is after the race there were all sorts of booths set up with food, drinks and samples. The best booth was the free massage booth for runners and walkers. It was great. After the run we had a barbeque with friends and family. After that we played wii at my Uncle's and then on to the longest slowest fireworks show ever. The girls, the Doctor's brother and I all fell asleep. The show lasted fifty painfully slow minutes. On the bright side it is the closest we have ever been to a fireworks show. There were ashes floating down around us. The following day all but the Doctor (who had to work) relaxed.

Here is an example of one of the better parts of our fireworks.

Just thought I would share one more pic with everyone. This is what Daisy Duke does if I go running or biking without her. I think I am officially caught up, until next time.

Finally

Well it has been a long while since we last posted and I have finally found some time. The kids got out of school the end of the second week in June. Since then we have been finishing up baseball, dance, gymnastics competitions and starting up things such as swim team, skateboarding, reagular swim and more gymnastics. Everyday we have at least two things going except friday, where all we have is swim team. The dude and princess had a swim meet the day after the princesses final gym meet and then followed by a piano audtition for the princess. We have also had lots of company visiting (which is a lot of fun). Hopefully I can catch up with everything sometime soon. Anyhow this is going to be a very long post just to get everything in.

Lets start with the final meet

Although she didn't make regions she improved greatly on all but the floor (she was very nervous and goofed here) Her vault was a 7.2 (she barely missed qualifying), her bars were a 5.8, her beam was a 5.4 and her floor was a 5.7. We are very proud of her. She is the youngest on her team and one of the youngest in the comp. She did very well this year.

Next on to swim. We don't have pics yet because we used my Dad's wife's camera. It was very crowded and hot. We very thankful to my Dad's wife who watched the two youngest for five hours. It would have been impossible otherwise. They both did very will the princess placed second in freestyle for her age group, 6th in back stroke, and fifth in the 100 free relay. Her favorite stroke is the backstroke. The dude also did very well improving alot from his first backstroke to his second. His favorite stroke is the breastsroke. For both of his relays his team placed fourth, for backstroke he placed sixth, for breaststroke he placed second and for freestyle he placed fifth. We are very proud of them they did an excellent job.
Now for the piano audition with the national piano guild which was the day after the swim meet and two days after her last gym comp. The princess went to her audition and was very nervous as this was her first. She did a great job. They play before a judge who has their music in front of them and the players play from memory. She played 5 songs and a set of scales. She received 15 commendable's and two needs attention. Her teacher was very impressed with her scores and audtion. She mainly needs to work on counting which we already new. She was able to play the correct intonations and sounds. We were also very impressed. Right after she had swim practice so I didn't have time for pics. But I will take pics this friday at her recital.
Okay coming up in the next two weeks. We have a swim meet on friday as well as the piano recital. On Saturday the Doctor and his brother plan to go whitewater rafting with my family. Next thursday the dude is playing his violing at a blues festival (or at least I think it is blues) and then Saturday we plan to spend the day at Elitches ( an amusement park that used to be six flags, it also has a water park attached). On top of all of this the kids have swim, skateboarding and gymnastic practices and the Doctor and his brother all have work, work, work and more work.
Oh yeah the Dude's baseball blog is posted a few blogs ago as I wrote it before I had Pics. Hope everyone has a great and busy summer:)
