Mom Mom's

The Doctor was able to pick up a shift on Saturday in La Junta so we went down to my Mom Mom's on Friday. We had a lot of fun. The Princess and the Dude went fishing with Pop-Pop and caught 5 huge fish each. They were very proud of themselves. They were also excited to drive through New Mexico to get to the lake. I had a great time visiting and so did the kids.

Halloween Party and Trick-or-Treating

On Friday we went to Granby for the kids to Trick-or-Treat some businesses. THe dude was scream, the Princess was a gymnast witch and her friend was a vampire witch, the Napster was a veterinarian, Cute Stuff was a Princess and Daisy Duke was a witch (she also went trick-or-treating for bones). We didn't think to bring hats or gloves so we had to stop early as the kids were all freezing. We then had dinner and went to the kids school Carnival. They had a lot of cute games there and a free picture booth. Naturally the kids all did their pictures. A couple of the classrooms also had trick-or-treating. The Dude and the Princess went around with their friends while we took the other two around. On Saturday the kids had a Halloween party where there were about 40 kids. We split them into age groups and they played games. The Dudes group decided that they were too old for games and so they played Guitar Hero. The younger kids had a monster egg hunt, played pin the eye on the monster and did foam crafts. The Princesses group played mad libs, charades, and did foam crafts. After all of this they had snacks and then we had two pinata's. We split the kids into two age groups. One of the dudes friends had to bust open the younger kids pinata after everyone had a turn. We lined the older kids up with boys last according to age. The princesses friend who was second broke the pumpkin in half on her second swing. The boys were all bummed that they didn't get a chance. Everyone left quickly after that and we had a peacefully quiet house. I am very thankful to the moms who stayed and helped. We made dinner and then took al of the kids except the princess (who went with a friend) to Cooper Creek Square for some more trick-or-treating. It was much warmer and there were no complaints. We followed this up with a street of houses and then went home. I was glad that we bought pretzels for treats as no one came to our house. Although busy I think the kids had a very fun Halloween.

First real snow

Last week we finally received enough snow to play in. We received about five inches. The dude and the girls took the sleds out behind our garage and went sledding for the first time this year. Cute Stuff loved going out to play until her fingers would get too cold and the nshe would come in crying. Most of our snow is gone now. We can't wait for the next storm.

The Napster's Harvest Festival

On Thursday the Napster had a harvest festival. I didn't realize when I volunteered for room mom I would be in charge of all the planning for these parties. While we tried to stick to theme it is very hard to find things that aren't for Halloween. So the kids made foam crafts out of Ghosts, Candy Corn, Pumpkins and Haunted tombstones, we had story telling and a pumpkin rolling contest. Afterwords we had snack and the kids took home a cornacopia filled with caramel corn. They all had a blast and things went smoother than I expected they would.

Pumpkin carving for Grandma

The Sunday before last the kids helped clean out some pumpkins for my Dad's wife. The girls were really grossed out but the Dude had a lot of fun. The Doctor broke off the stem on one and the Dude broke one of the carving knives. The pumpkins were later used at a baby shower (the princesses first) to carve babies judged by the mom to be my sister. The princesses groups pumpkin won which she was very excited about. We still haven't carve the Dude's and the Napster's pumpkins yet. They can't wait to carve them.

The Pumpkin Patch

Two Saturdays ago we took the kids to a small pumpkin patch in Evergreen. They each got to pick out their own pumpkins. The Dude and Napster picked out large ones while the Princess and Cute Stuff picked out small ones. They had a great time looking around. Cute Stuff really enjoyed throwing the Princess's pumpkin around.

The Denver Zoo

Okay so I am way behind again what else is new. We actually went to the zoo the week before we went to Hawaii. We went with my Aunt that I haven't seen in forever, my cousin's wife and his little boy who looks just like my cousin did when he was little. It was so much fun. My aunt took us all on the train around the zoo. My cousins little boy just turned two and was soo good with Cute Stuff. He pushed her stroller and shared his snacks with her it was soo cute. We missed the Bears so I guess we will have to go back again. The Denver is a lot better than the Sacramento Zoo and costs about the same. It was soo cold we had to buy sweaters for those of us who forgot ours. After the zoo we went to Black Eyed Peas and had a quick lunch. Then onto Karen's parents and dinner. It was a really great day. We really enjoyed visiting with everyone and can't wait to do it again.
